Hair Me Out documents a visual transformation that almost everyone can relate to. Almost all of us have an emotional connection to our hair, and the success of this project is rooted in the way we bridged empathy. While everyone is different, we all share striking similarities in the way we move through awkward stages of life. Hair Me Out leveraged compelling visual narratives to tell deeper cultural stories that bridged empathy and showcased the connection between people and their hair. Hair Me Out succeeded in a grand effort to diversify the storytelling at Refinery29, resulting in this transformation series becoming one of the highest syndicated shows.

Rachel created this show based on the high-performing content type of transformations. She used the foundation of human psychological curiosity for drastic before-afters to add deep storytelling to allow people to connect with each other while watching a visual transformation.
